In the first episode of this new season of Hola Hamonate, we look at the value
of music in the lives of the elderly.
We visit Naledi Elderly Choir and find out
how being part of this music group helps boost one’s confidence and social
skills. Music therapist Erna Kruger tells us about the benefits of music for
the elderly which may even reduce levels of depression in Alzheimer patients.
The episode also features the Dark City Sisters who released major hits in the
1950s and 60s and are slowly getting their groove back.
Hola Hamonate is
presented by the elderly for the elderly; it is a space where the elderly can
share their challenges, triumphs and wisdom. The show is a platform for
conversation where the elderly can unpack current issues at their own pace and
in their own style. Anthony Wilson and Clementine Mosimane are presenters of
this season of Hola Hamonate.
