Open Varsity’s presenter Amukelani N’wankot

Open Varsity presenter Amukelani N’wankoti, better known as Mchangani first cut his broadcast teeth on an educational show Tech Expo, an insert in X marks the Spot. He is a radio presenter on Munghana Lonene fm.

Mchangani, well-known for hip hop sounds released an album in 2007 called So Shangaan. In 2008 he was presenter of another educational programme Vutshila.

Mchangani brings his radio and music fans to SABC Education’s programme Open Varsity which brings university lessons into the comfort of homes. Student cards and enrolment forms are not necessary; all that is required is for students to tune into SABC2 every Monday to Thursday.

Open Varsity offers lessons in arts, law, commerce, engineering, natural sciences, physics, financial accounting, commercial law, physiology and constitutional law 100. Open Varsity revises lessons that students struggle with in various courses.

Through recapping on lessons, the show creates a better link between the lesson and the real-life application of the study.
Open Varsity supplements university students’ specific course content and provides additional study material in line with the needs of the course in the degree of their choice.
