Hopeville Movie Wins at the FESPACO

Shortly after Karel Flint and Themba Ndaba were announced winners at the 5th South African Film and Television Awards for their contribution to the film Hopeville, SABC Education has great pleasure to announce another win for Hopeville.

Hopeville the movie won the best television film at FESPACO on the 8th March 2011. FESPACO is the largest film festival in Africa and takes place every two years in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. Since its inception in 1969, the festival's goal has been to 'contribute to the expansion and development of African cinema by means of expression, education and awareness-raising. It is the largest cultural event on the African continent and focuses primarily, though not exclusively on African film and filmmakers.

The film Hopeville tells the story of an alcoholic father played by Themba who tries to win the love of his son by fixing the local swimming pool. The series, a co-production between Curious Pictures, Heartlines and SABC Education, explores the impact of doing good in the lives of the whole community.
