Rivoningo presenter move from Construction to Television!

Jabi Matsoso, aged 23 describes herself as a creative conceptualist who loves to put things together.

She loves being in front of the camera which she attributes to landing the role of presenter on Rivoningo, an SABC Education life skills show for children aged four to nine. Born in Venda, Jabi started school at the age of five in Shayandima an urban township in Venda where she received her first of many merit awards for excellence.

She says “I was an exceptionally brainy child. At home the walls are adorned with awards received from the start of school to 2003 when I matriculated at Dimani Agricultural high school”.Brainy she is! In 2004 Jabi moved to Pretoria and studied Construction Engineering.

In 2006 she graduated; obtained two distinctions and was the only female in her class to graduate. She spent a year as an intern at an electrical and civil contractor company.“I had been for many auditions in the TV industry and in 2007 I was chosen to present Imagine That! on SABC2.

This opportunity changed my life and I didn’t hesitate to put engineering behind for good. My new career in the media includes writing, research, communication, art design, acting and script translations.

Having worked on several projects both behind the camera and in front of the camera has opened doors of endless possibilities”.Among many productions, Jabi worked on Walk like a Man, Masechaba, Heartlines, Burning the Bridges, Managing your Money and Be Financially Smart. She says “Rivoningo has been my favourite. It is great to share the love for reading and writing on the show.

The show also teaches numeracy for children in the foundation phases of learning”.Rivoningo, hosted by Jabi and two robot characters Lelo and Keke is full of excitement and fun. Watch Jabi on Rivoningo weekdays on SABC2 at 10h30 until 28 September 2010.
