Cape Town families flock to the SABC Education Indaba

The weekend of the 8th – 10th August 2009 saw the SABC Education Baba Indaba thrill visitors in Cape Town with a range of interesting, innovative and unique exhibitors with offerings ranging from gourmet cupcakes and stylish maternity wear, to belly wraps for post pregnancy bellies, hand crafted toys and educational entertainment for kids.

33 901 visitors flocked to the CTICC over the course of the weekend to take advantage of the great show specials on offer at Baba Indaba’s own retail sector – ebaby, listen to experts in their fields give talks at the Woolworths littleworld Speakers Corner on topics such as the essence of sleep, finding that perfect nanny, how to make the doctors visit really easy and the very important role, father’s have in a child’s life! As well as visited over 100 unique exhibitors.

Once again visitors to the SABC Education Baba Indaba were treated to shows by the Takalani Sesame Muppets who entertained, educated and enthralled mums, pops and kids alike, while mums made use of the private Breast Feeding Facilities, Bottle Warming Station and Cuddlers Baby Changing Stations which were equipped with a free supply of Cuddlers Nappies.

Dad’s were truly the winners this year, with Moonhier winning the Woolworths Dad Does Dinner voucher and our top dad on the pram obstacle course, Andre Lord, took his winning position for the second year running, and won thousands of B!-Bucks which was spent on essentials for their brand new baby.

Natalie Naude, Show Director and owner comments, “Despite the recession we are happy to report that our exhibitors experienced a successful Indaba, with sales through the roof and the number of visitors proving that although some industries may be struggling, parents and expecting parents still want the best for their children and families – something which we are only too happy to provide!”

Nolitha Matshikiza from Baby Sense comments, “What a show! The feet that came in on the Saturday right through to the Sunday were overwhelming. This show was beautifully organized and I found Ceinwen to be very accommodating! The sales we had were phenomenal and the calls we received post the show really made it all so worthwhile. Thank you again- Baba Indaba never disappoints!”

Lindsay Raddall from Baby Bow Boutique says “We were very happy with our choice to launch Baby Bow Boutique at Baba Indaba. Our products were very well received by all and our company had a great launch. We will definitely be back again!”

Clare Snell, Operations Manager at Netcells Cryogenics comments, “We had a successful Baba Indaba in Cape Town last weekend with five people registering to store their baby’s stem cells. There was a steady stream of visitors to our stand by people who were interested in finding out more about stem cells, and stem cell storage, and we expect to get many more registrations.”
