A New Season of Rivoningo on SABC2

The fourth series of Rivoningo starts on August 13th 2012 on SABC2.  The new series brings South African children, caregivers, parents and teachers content with specific emphasis on improving literacy.

Tshilidzi Davhana, commissioning editor at SABC Education says “Rivoningo is for anyone with an interest in early childhood basic education.  We help children with numeracy, literacy and lifeskills.

The magazine series supports the development of skills in these areas focusing on equipping learners with values and attitudes needed in the Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phases.  These skills are needed to deal with general learning issues outside day to day classroom situations which influence what happens in classrooms”.

The new series introduces a new segment for parents and caregivers where experts share crafts that parents and caregivers can do with their children.  Robots Lelo and Keke share fun activities with friends that visit the studio. Viewers can look forward to a new spacious studio with beautiful appealing colours for children.

Number fun songs, fables, crafts, brainteasers and jokes by Keke are still part of the show and presenters Kuli and Vele continue to guide the children as they learn to discern the similarities and differences between colours and shapes, numbers and words, letters and alphabet.

“Different story tellers visit the studio and read with the kids in languages they understand allowing them to express themselves and learn basic literacy in their own languages.  This season we visit more locations and the kids have a chance to interact with Rivoningo Muppets on the Umama Nami road show.

This gives us opportunity to showcase the best of what South Africa has to offer in a geographical sense and to interact with more children across the country” ends Tshilidzi.

Rivoningo ‘let it shine’ in Xitsonga is proudly brought to South African children by SABC Education and is aired on Mondays to Fridays on SABC2 from 10h30 to 11h00.
