The Right to Win with Paul Mvulane Mnisi.



Paul Mvulane Mnisi is presenter of South Africa’s only democracy game show The Right to Win coming to SABC2 on Mondays at 18h00 from 3 March.  In the show six individuals fight for points, popularity and cash in a quiz that tests knowledge and understanding of South Africa’s democracy.  Mnisi’s career in the broadcasting industry kicked off in 1995 when the 17 year old Katlehong born personality presented the youth show Ecovision; he was also the voice over artist and translated scripts from English to isiZulu.

The Right to Win is produced by Grounded Media for SABC Education and is a partnership between the SABC and the Electoral Commission which forms part of their ‘I vote South Africa Voter Education Campaign’.

This project attempts to re-enforce the values laid down by great women and men who bravely fought for the emancipation of this country It is important to build our democracy that the likes of Mandela battled for” says Mnisi.

In 1996 Mnisi joined community station Voice of Soweto as a field reporter, news reader and presenter.  In 1997 he joined YFM radio. Over the years he presented the evening show, midday show, afternoon drive and the coveted breakfast slot.  Thanks to Mnisi, poetry enjoyed centre stage on YFM; his feature, Word of Mouth was the place to be heard for all aspiring wordsmiths, it gave the art form much needed airtime.  Mnisi sat on the LoveLife advisory board for five years where his knowledge and experience as a youth leader was put to good use; he was asked to host various events as master of ceremonies and motivational speaker.

In 1999 Mnisi joined Jam Alley, the long running youth music and entertainment show on SABC1 where he worked with Vinoliah Mashego until 2001.  In 2001 he opened his own company Rudeboy Productions (Pty) Ltd.  In 2002 Mnisi became editor of Ymag which won the best youth magazine award at the Sappi Pica awards for two years in a row as well as overall winner for best consumer magazine with him at the helm. He was recipient of the Arts and Culture Trust Award for best supporting media in arts and culture in 2003.

He found his way back to TV in 2007 as the presenter of the music game show Lilizela Mlilizeli on SABC2.  He has featured in many international productions and local productions such as Soul City, Amandla – A Revolution in Four Part Harmony and The Lion’s Trial.
