NSFAS
We hold a conviction that the financial status of the beneficiaries of NSFAS won’t be able to change
overnight as it is evident on the frustrations that are created by University Managers to students in the previously disadvantage Universities. It is totally incorrect that students that have outstanding debts because of unavailability of funds from NSFAS are denied access in Universities. Secondly the prospective postgraduate student’s financial status remains the same which implies that these students won’t be able to further their studies to postgraduate levels due to financial precincts and this is illogical because these are the same people that will be contributing to the economy of the country. As PASMA we are calling for;
- All NSFAS beneficiaries that has outstanding debts must be cleared and allowed to register
- All prospective postgraduates the were NSFAS beneficiaries must be allowed to register without being requested to pay money
- All first years that qualify for NSFAS must be allowed to register with NSFAS
In conclusion as PASMA we have observed with immense dismay of the ignorance displayed by the
DHET in taking a centre stage on issues that are affecting students in Universities and Colleges. As PASMA we wish to make it known that we will soldier on, mobilize the excluded and marginalized poor students to confront this brutal education system imposed on us till our African brothers and sisters access education because “education to us means service to Africa.”
