Black
History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, is an
annual observance in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom for
remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African
diaspora.
Black History
Month is not just an American idea; South Africa also celebrates it in the
month of February.
This month eBukhosini
Solutions in collaboration with Ola Deh and various community partners embark
on a BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPEAKING TOUR targeting youth and students in ten communities
and university campuses in Gauteng, North West and Mpumalanga provinces. The
workshops present a thought provoking response to the question ‘Why should I be
proud of Africa?’ Answers reveal hidden and unknown facts about our continent,
which is often surrounded by ignorance and shame.
On this day we
share, reflect and celebrate positive black contributions and promote knowledge
of Black history, culture and heritage.
