With age the brain gets a little rustier and some of our normal
functions regress; our memory becomes less sharp. Is this all part of
growing older or not? How does an elderly person know whether they are
just being forgetful or have a serious condition such as Alzheirmer’s
disease or another form of dementia?
In this episode of Hola hamonate we meet Marie Ntsie a grandmother
and wife concerned about her constant memory lapses who fears the worst.
She meets Dr Lindy Sinclair who assesses whether her suspicions of
dementia are correct. We visit a home for the elderly, where a patient
with dementia wandered off due to Alzheimer's.
Hola hamonate is presented by the elderly for the elderly; it is a
space where the elderly can share their challenges, triumphs and wisdom.
The show is a platform for conversation where the elderly can unpack
current issues at their own pace and in their own style. Anthony Wilson
and Clementine Mosimane are presenters of this season of Hola hamonate.
