BUDGET SPEECH - WOMEN, CHILDREN AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES



MINISTER XINGWANA AND DEPUTY MINISTER BOGOPANE-ZULU TO DELIVER BUDGET SPEECH
Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana and Deputy Minister, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu will present the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities Budget Vote speech tomorrow. They will announce plans, projects and programs to be co-ordinated and implemented by the department during the 2012/3 financial year. In the context of the current spate of violence perpetrated against women and children, the speech is expected to address the issue of gender-based violence and the co-ordinated approach to deal with it.
The speech will also reflect on the National Action Plan on Children, programmes relating to women empowerment and gender equality, programmes aimed at advancing and protecting the rights of people with disabilities.  
The Theme of the Budget Vote speech is: It takes a village to raise a child: Creating a Sustainable future we want for the next generations.
The Department will in partnership with UNICEF host a Pre-Budget Vote Children’s Poster workshop which is held each year prior to presentation of the budget vote. The aim of the workshop is to allow a representation of learners to consult in a form of interaction with Minister on the aspects of children in the budget Vote speech to be presented the next day. The posters are therefore displayed at the Budget Vote and messages from the posters are delivered. The Budget Vote children’s workshop will take place on 10 May 2012, 14h00
