Mo describes himself as “totally outrageous laughter! Stand-up comedy is my life and I basically talk crap for a living. I have a wild, colourful imagination. Comedy skits and trilling stage performance ideas creep up on me when I’m in front of the camera. I’m energetic and full of life. I live entertainment and entertainment lives in me.”
Born in Kempton Park, Mo was raised by his grandmother alongside a village of family members. He attended Kempton Park Primary and matriculated at Tersia King Learning Academy in Tembisa. Being a prankster, he was always in trouble for some or other reason at school; he loved to make random reverse-charge calls in an Indian accent during lunchtime.
When Mo was little he always believed that by the age of 21 he would have discovered his super powers so if granted three wishes they would be, to have these super powers, eternal life and to be wealthy! He says his career achievements and highlights include his nomination for Best Newcomer at the Comics Choice 2011 awards, performing at prestigious comedy events like Blacks Only, SA Comedy Heavyweights, Comedy Nine Nine, Tswane and Soweto comedy festival and many more.
Richard Pryor is Mo’s inspiration, he enjoys rock ‘n roll, jazz and hip hop. The most memorable song in his life is Kanye West’s Roses. Jim Carrey and Jada Pinket Smith are his favourite movie stars. His favourite movie is Justice League because “it had all the marvel comic superheroes in, it is one big action packed movie baaam kaabooom.”
Mo spends his leisure time with his woman Mome Nale and daughter ‘mini-me’ who he loves to bits. He enjoys play station and listening to 5fm because they pump the hits. He laughingly says “my favourite TV show is Knight Rider, it’s a classic, sad stuff like Days of our Lives and Selimatunzi make me cry!”
This outrageous young man says nothing scares him and will know he has achieved success when the masses show love and respect for his work and his account has six digit figures. Any regrets? “No! Only one unfulfilled ambition which is to figure out my super powers” ends Mo.
You can watch crazy Mo in action on Walala Wasala, an SABC Education programme scheduled for broadcast on SABC 1, Thursdays at 18h30 starting on 10th March 2011. Walala Wasala is produced by Kagiso TV and Communications for SABC Education and the Independent Electoral Commission’s civic and democracy education campaign.
