Apply for your 2014 Sasol Bursary today

Students have less than a month left to apply for the 2014 Sasol bursaries, rated as one of the most competitive offers in the country.Sasol’s bursary programme covers 100% of educational expenses, including tuition fees, residence and meals.

This ensures that students can achieve maximum potential at the desired institution and their only focus is to prepare for their academic careers.

Further, Sasol provides paid vacation work and an opportunity to work for the company, upon graduation.

The company also offers a 36-month learnership programme for students who want to become qualified artisans. The learnership exposes learners to theoretical and practical training, equipping them to work at Sasol and up-skill them for opportunities beyond the company.

Helping students focus on studies

One student who benefitted from the programme is Mxolisi Khutama who was born in Mohlakeng, West of Johannesburg. He is now the Managing Director of Price’s Candles – a division of Sasol Chemical Industries. Khutama received a bursary in 1994, and studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town.

“Because the bursary covered all study and related expenses, it really helped me to focus on my studies and be a student, rather than worry about paying the bills,” he said.

Khutama has spent most of his career at Sasol and highly recommends a career at the energy and chemical company due to its technically astute, business minded and young driven people.

“As a Sasol employee, you are exposed to various industry sectors like petrochemicals, oil and gas, electricity generation and mining amongst others. Sasol has significantly grown in recent years and continues to grow, presenting great opportunities,” said Khutama.

Sasol invested R40.8 million in bursaries in 2012 with the focus primarily on developing skills in science, technology and engineering. The company currently has 585 undergraduates and post-graduate bursars.

Applications for the bursary scheme will be accepted until 28 February 2013. Candidates can log on to www.sasolbursaries.com for online applications and more information, or can call 0860 010 6235 for further information.
