A career in Screen printing

SABC1 24th October 2012 at 13h30.
The technique of screen printing is a 2000 year old form of printing first used by the Chinese; the technique involves pushing ink or paint through a mesh stencil onto a canvas, known as a substrate. The process of screen printing is generally very simple, and it allows a person to make identical designs, such as logos, on several different items.
The most important piece of equipment for screen printing is the screen. Some items that a screen printer might create include posters, tapestries, decals, and clothing. T-shirts, for instance, are often screen printed with all sorts of logos, sayings, and designs. This is an exciting career for young creative people who enjoy working with their hands. Watch iSpani today to see if screen printing is your career path.  Also check out how the designs on your T-shirts are printed.
iSpani is a reality documentary that takes viewers into the world of work. Each week an aspiring careerist is exposed, in detail, to the inner workings of a specific career starting at the very bottom.  They are taken on a process of orientation and practical job shadowing, introduced to and supported by potential employers. In addition to performing specific tasks that build the foundation of a competent employee, iSpani candidates are coached by on-the-ground experts in the field, who share their experiences in developing their own careers with the candidates.  Viewers can write to iSpani at email: Ispani@sabc.co.za
