Arts and Culture SA – Shift on SABC1

Arts and Culture define a country and its people. The Arts allow artists from all sectors to express and promote their customs, their traditions, their identity and experiences. This is very important in sustaining one's cultural heritage and identity. If we had to hinder these critical processes where would our country be and what would happen to our identity? On Tuesday 3rd July Shift meets talented individuals serving one purpose; sharing their identity and cultural heritage and experiences in a variety of forms, be it as a novelist, poet or movie maker. Each person contributes culturally and artistically to the nation’s total experience. This however, is not all smooth sailing and many projects never see the light of day. Several contributing factors include funding, expertise and know-how.  In recent days the Department of Arts and Culture announced a plan to create schools of excellence that will further enhance Arts and Culture Education in SA. Watch Shift and discover what artists experience trying to get their projects launched into the public domain. If you have a creative idea then you have the opportunity to make your dreams a reality.
