Ratanang, The Parenting Club Coming to SABC2.

Most families have their own issues to deal with, whether serious or minor, the issue must be dealt with. Ratanang, The Parenting Club is a platform for parents and children to interact and deal with issues instead of sweeping them under the carpet.

“We are expected to be parents, professionals, friends and spouses and be perfect in all these roles. Sometimes we need help in one or all areas of our lives as parents, but can’t afford professional help or don’t know where to go to get it. Ratanang, The Parenting Club may be just what you have been looking for. Ratanang, The Parenting Club offers solutions to all concerns with a click of a button. The show will give parents the best means to cope with the challenges of raising children in today's society.” says Jo Neethling, commissioning editor at SABC Education’s public information and social development unit.

Phumi Mashigo, presenter of Ratanang, The Parenting Club is level-headed, charming and sometimes feisty. Phumi, a team of friends, experts and a professional equipped with the right tools visit schools, homes and places of employment to help someone who has been in your situation and overcome it. Phumi says “Ratanang is derived from a Sotho word meaning ‘to Love each other’, the show is people-centred, solutions-focused and research-based. Parents share stories and find solutions to their situations, educating themselves and others on how to be better parents.”

52 episodes of Ratanang, The Parenting Club, produced by Whatwewant for SABC Education is scheduled for broadcast on SABC2 Fridays at 10h50 starting 20 May 2011. SABC2’s publicity manager Zandile Nkonyeni “Ratanang, The Parenting Club will inform, educate and shed light on the ever-changing world of parent and child relationships. Through the show our viewers will find out how children think and what they believe and understand about their own world.”
